Lancaster Today I went to the Polish National Roman Catholic Cathedral where they were celebrating Dozynki. My host told me that this is an old Polish harvest tradition and that Poles have been celebrating it for centuries. Here is the crowd gathering after the end of Mass. It looked like everyone had posed for us. The bishop is dressed in green and people around him are dressed in traditional Polish costumes. |

| Oops! This little goat has gotten out of his pen and is exploring the festival for himself.! |

| Well, the little guy got put back in his pen - that's him in the background sulking. I had a talk with his mother, where she told me all about his adolescent hijinks! The goats were part of a petting zoo. |

| This llama was also part of the petting zoo. He told me a very funny joke; can you see him laughing? He was really great to hang out with. |

This tom turkey had come to see the festival, too. He was very proud of his plumage and strutted around like he was the best thing at the festival. But I'm a rat, so I'm afraid when it comes to the best thing, I'd have to vote...food!

| And speaking of food...here I am with my host's father enjoying a Polish meal of kielbasa with onion and sauerkraut. We're drinking Polish beer, Zywiec. It was very good. Maybe someday I can go to Poland and get some good food like this there. In the meantime, this will do very nicely. |

| It's rare to see boys dressed up in traditional costumes, but we did see one. He was happy to be in my picture. This boy belongs to a group called the Polish Heritage Dancers. |

| Here's a young lady in traditional attire. She is also a member of the Polish Heritage Dancers. |

| A popular game at the festival is to buy these pull-offs. If you get three-of-a-kind, you win. Hmmm. Which should I pick? |

Hey, I won! Well, that certainly ends the day on a high note. I enjoyed my day at the harvest festival and all the time I have spent in Western New York. But now it's time for me to move on. Who knows where I'll go next? |
