Western New York

During the summer, there are lots of fairs and festivals in this area.  We went to a festival in Churchville, NY, and area with strong agricultural traditions.  Look at all these tractors!

  What big wheels you have!
What's a summer fair without good food?  Here's some fried dough and lemonade.  Yummy!

(Yes, rats love to eat. You doubted that?)
I have been so lucky to visit so many beautiful countries.  I even visited a sovereign nation - the Tonawanda Reservation, home of the Tonawanda Band of the Senecas.

Here I am in front of the entry gate of the Lily Dale Assembly.  Lily Dale is a spiritualist community that has been bringing summer programs to the public since 1879.

The Lily Dale Museum was once a one-room schoolhouse built in 1890.  The museums includes the peddlers box from the Fox home.  That home was transported here in 1915, but it burned down in 1955.  Spiritualist newspapers and other memorabilia are also found in the museum.  I really liked the Victorian spirit paintings - the eyes were so eerie!
I went to a spiritualist service and later to a healing ceremony here at the Healing Temple.  Dedicated to the principles of spiritual healing, it was opened in 1955.
Forest Temple is an area of spiritual, emotional, and mental upliftment.  The mediums didn't have any messages for me, but it was a beautiful place to sit and soak upthe atmosphere.  This temple has been in operation since 1894.
I walked along the faerie path and saw many little faerie houses.  These houses make me feel big!
A week after our spiritualist adventure, my host learned that one of her favorite authors would be having a book signing in Ithaca, NY.  We took a beautiful drive through the Finger Lakes region to meet her.  We arrived early and walked around downtown, where I met this funny fellow.
Here I am with author Sherrilyn Kenyon and my host.  Sherrilyn was in Ithaca for a Southern Tier Authors of Romance conference.  She was so nice!  We talked for quite a while.  Even though she said she's not fond of rats, she thought I was very pretty.  I can't wait until her next book comes out.  Until then, I'll enjoy her website, which has much to explore and do.
I also got to meet MaryJanice Davidson, who writes the Undead series.
Aren't these grapes lovely?  I just had to have my picture taken with them.
